Music is Art Hits Delaware Park

BUFFALO, NY - Thousands of people from all over Western New York came out to celebrate the Music is Art festival all day Saturday.

The 9th annual event took place at Delaware Park and consisted of over 150 musicians, designers, artists and dancers.

The event was created by Goo Goo Dolls bassist and Buffalo native Robby Takac to give artists the opportunity to showcase their work.

Executive director, Tod Kniazuk said, "It's really kind of a fun party for everyone who shows up for this big free day but for the bands involved instead of playing in a club in front of 50 people, they get to come out here and play in front of a few thousand."

The proceeds from the event benefit the Music is Art program which offers a variety of musical programs, funds to music related events and a refurbished instrument drive.

Buffalo Chamber Players Present "Bach to Tuva"

Buffalo Chamber Players Present "Bach to Tuva"

The Buffalo Chamber Players kick off their fifth season on Wednesday, September 21, with a program titled “Bach to Tuva.” Acclaimed for their diverse programming, the ensemble continues this tradition with an evening featuring an assortment of chamber music exploring the traditional, the experimental, and the fusion of the two.

Though Bach composed hundreds of cantatas for the church, his Coffee Cantata, BWV 211 is one of only a handful of secular cantatas. Written between 1732 and 1734, the Coffee Cantata tells a humorous tale of coffee overindulgence, something that was common in his 18th century Leipzig—and is still relevant today. Singing the work are soprano Christina Lynch, tenor Jeffrey Porter, and bass Timothy Flynn.
