Benefit for Dan Licker

Dan Licker is struggling with the effects of  cancer. A benefit for him is scheduled for September 30, 2011, from 7:00 until 11:00 P.M. at 3964 California Road, Orchard Park. 

His family is hoping for donations for raffles, Chinese Auction, food/beverage certificates etc. Tickets for the benefit are $20.00.

Adam, a fashion line launched in 2004 by Buffalo native Adam Lippes, is making quite a buzz.. Adam Lippes got his start as a PR rep for Ralph Lauren & Global creative director for Oscar de la renta. At that time in his career he became one of the youngest creative directors in luxury fashion.Adam launched his line in 2004 opening his first boutique in NYC meatpacking district. His early fashions were high end tees and underwear.

Horse Show In Buffalo Now Through Sunday

You may not know about the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center, alwo known as The Buffalo Equestrian Center, even though it's a large facility in North Buffalo. Built as an indoor polo arena in the 1920's, it now hosts a variety of equestrian events and classes. This week, the Buffalo International Horse Show in underway. It's a fundraiser for the center, and other youth charities in our area.  www.thebtrc.org

 

UB on The Green Music Series at UB South

UB on The Green kicked off its 5th annual Music series which runs each Wednesday from  September 7- September 21 on the South campus of UB at 6pm.

It features live performances of some of the hottest local bands along with free food to help staff, students and neighbors connect . Next week Wed. on the South campus Main St. side taking the stage will be Genkin Philharmonic.

Olmsted Hosts 9th Annual "Party for the Parks"

It’s a night you won’t want to miss – jugglers, fire dancers, special guests, unique entertainers, fireworks, delicious food and live music – all with a British twist. It’s the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy’s 9th annual “Party for the Parks” event and it’s happening this Friday, September 16th, at the Marcy Casino in Delaware Park. Themed “A British Invasion,” this year’s “Party for the Parks” promises to be brilliant.

This event serves as Olmsted's key fundraiser for the sutainability and growth of the city's iconic parks.  "Party for the Parks" brings Western New Yorkers together for an exciting and entertaining evening, while raising awareness about the Olmsted Parks Conservancy's mission to enhance, restore, and maintain the Buffalo Olmsted Park System.

Tickets are $25.

UB on the Green Tonight

UB on the Green Tonight

Tonight continues the fifth season of UB on the Green, a free outdoor performance series held on the UB South Campus. This evening's event features two local artists and will be held in a new location on Rotary Field on the South Campus along Bailey Avenue from 6:00-8:00pm. Attendees can enter on Coal Road and free parking is available in the lot on the right across from the field.

Billy Drease Williams will open the show at 6:00. He is a man of many talents who shares his positive experiences and talents to encourage and inspire students through his Hip-Hop performances he calls: “Finding A.M.Y.”  

Sean Ryan Wins Race for 144th Assembly District

BUFFALO, NY - For the first time in nearly four decades, a man with the last name Hoyt will not represent the 144th State Assembly district.

2 On Your Side is declaring Sean Ryan, the endorsed Democratic candidate, the winner of Tuesday's special election to replace Sam Hoyt. Hoyt vacated his seat earlier this year to take a job in the Cuomo administration. Hoyt's father Bill held the seat prior to his son.

Ryan defeated Sean Kipp and Gregory Horn in the only true election race on Primary Day.

The 144th district includes most of North Buffalo and all of Grand Island.
