BUFFALO, NY - Following reports on TV news stations, including 2 On Your Side, Buffalo Police received a tip as to the location of the missing statue taken from the replica Trevi Fountain at the Buffalo Italian Festival.
It has since been returned and is back on the fountain.
A spokesperson for the Buffalo Police say it appears two men took the statue as a prank. Once officers located the individuals, they asked them to return the statue unharmed, which they did.
At this time, it does not appear festival organizers are going to press charges but they may ask the two pranksters to perform community service at the 4-day event.
Sometime overnight, the piece of a replica of the famous Trevi Fountain was taken as it was awaiting set up for the upcoming Italian Festival.
