The 8th Annual Jalana Palma Scholarship Bike Run takes to the road on Sunday, August 8. Motorcycles leave the Panera parking lot at Sheridan and Delaware in Tonawanda at 10 a.m. and arrive at the American Legion Niagara Frontier Post at 533 Amherst Street in Buffalo. A reception there begins at 3 p.m.

Jalana Palma, a student at Kenmore East High School, was a 16-year-old girl who lost her life on October 21, 2000 to meningitis. A scholarship established in her honor is awarded to students at Kenmore East High School who are planning to go to college to become teachers, because that was one of Jalana'a ambitions.
