Buy a Purse and Build a Baseball Field | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Each day I will write about something that a person can do to help others. I want to show that we can help others without having a lot of money or time. I feel strongly that we all have something that we can offer. The things that I write about will usually not take up much time or require large donations. I love the daily Ways To Save. This can be a Ways To Give.

“Build it and they will come” was the voice that was heard by an Iowa farmer played by Kevin Costner in the 1989 movie Field of Dreams. A tragedy happened on August 1st, 2010. A beautiful family of four including 45-year-old Robert Behn, his 48-year-old wife Lisa, their 18-year-old son Jordan and 15-year-old daughter Morgan was struck and killed by a drunk driver (who also was killed), while driving home from their son's baseball game. The Behn family was from Parker, Colorado. Robby and Lisa grew up in Western New York. Rob grew up in Lancaster and Cheektowaga. He graduated from high school from JFK and graduated college at UB. Lisa was raised in Alden. She was a school teacher in the Alden schools. They were married at Alden Town Line Lutheran Church where they are all now buried. They moved to Parker, Colorado shortly after their son Jordon was born. This young family left behind many people who dearly miss them. A decision was made to do something in honor of their precious lives so that their memory will live on. A beautiful baseball park at Ponderosa High School in Parker, CO where Jordon and Morgan played baseball has been built. It is beautiful. It will carry on the passion for sports that this family had. They need more money to finished paying for this baseball field so that kids of many generations can enjoy and remember. It has been built and now it needs to be paid for. I know that many people have stepped up to support this cause and I am sure many more will. When you buy a purse from this website all profits go toward this baseball field. I have to add a personal note to this story. I knew Rob, the Dad, when he was growing up. I was (and still am) best friends with his cousin. When things happen at times that seems senseless, doing something like this really gives the senseless some meaning.
