Each day I will write about something that a person can do to help others. I want to show that we can help others without having a lot of money or time. I feel strongly that we all have something that we can offer. The things that I write about will usually not take up much time or require large donations. I love the daily Ways To Save. This can be a Ways To Give.

SOMO means “study” which is a perfect fit to the mission of this website. In Gulu, Uganda it costs roughly $150.00 a year per child to go to school, which is too high for most families to handle. The women of this country are incredible artisans; they make beads and necklaces from unwanted paper products. SOMO purchases crafts from them on a consistent basis and market their products in the States. This provides the women with a consistent wage. All the profits from selling the beads then go back to give the children of Uganda an education so that they can make a better life for themselves, their families and their community. Check out these beautiful beads. It is just amazing that they are made from paper.
