Newly Renovated & Designed Guest Bedrooms Set To Be Unveiled

The Ronald McDonald House of Buffalo will host a ribbon cutting ceremony located at 780 West Ferry, on May 22, at 1:30PM, celebrating the opening of its two, newly renovated guest bedrooms, designed by members of the Interior Design Association of Western New York.

IDA’s dedicated designers volunteered their time and set a goal to create spaces that would provide the Ronald McDonald House families with a tranquil retreat. These guest rooms were designed with enjoyment and restorative qualities in mind.

IDA designers Robert Reeder, Michelle Peller White, Mary Terese Nasca, Mark Taylor, Rich Nashwinter, Deborah Smith and Carol Shaper were presented with the task of utilizing money raised by the auctioning of “The Really Little House” playhouse at the 2011 Buffalo Home & Garden Show. Deborah Smith of Deborah Smith Interiors and Todd Patti of Changes Construction designed Ronald McDonald’s first ever children’s playhouse, which helped raise over $2600. When IDA presented the check to RMH coordinator, Sally Vincent, the designers were then offered the challenge of using the funds to renovate and redesign two guest bedrooms at the House.

The Ronald McDonald House of Buffalo has welcomed over 17,000 families from all over the world, since its opening in 1983. The staff has since made it their personal quest to offer a home away from home for families of children providing medical treatment by offering comforting and caring accommodations. IDA was thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with a foundation that has done, and continues to do, a tremendous service within the community.

The IDA are thankful to have had the opportunity to partner with the Ronald McDonald House, one of Buffalo’s leading, non-profit organizations, and looks forward to similar projects in the future.
