Donate Glasses To Give The Gift Of Sight | Community Spirit
Each day I will write about something that a person can do to help others. I want to show that we can help others without having a lot of money or time. I feel strongly that we all have something that we can offer. The things that I write about will usually not take up much time or require large donations. I love the daily Ways to Save. This can be a Ways to Give.
Action: Donate Used RX, safety or sun glasses
Time Needed: You will need time to collect old glasses and mail or drop off
Requirements: You need to have old glasses that you do not need anymore
Cost: Nothing if you drop them off at the church or only a few dollars to mail.
My sister in law, Linda, along with a group from Saint Christopher’s Church in Tonawanda, NY will be traveling to Nicaragua to help people that are in need of support in January 2013. They will be bringing items that will enable the Nicaraguan people to live a better life. One of the important items that they will need is glasses. There are people living there that have never seen clearly their entire lives. This limits their potential. The glasses that you have lying around your house can make the difference between being dependent and being independent. They will take any type of glasses so that not only can they see better but they will keep their eyes safe from the sun and particles.
You can either drop off the glasses at the rectory if you live in the area or mail them in. The mailing address is:
St. Christopher's Rectory 2660 Niagara Falls Blvd., Tonawanda, NY 14150. Please also label the package Project Nicaragua.
