The Ultimate Handcrafted Shopping Experience is Coming to Rochester

Premier Promotions of WNY is pleased to announce it will bring its nationally acclaimed spring and holiday artisan markets to the Roc Dome Arena in Rochester in 2018! The Spring Artisan Market will be held April 6-8, while Christmas in the Country-Rochester will be held Nov. 9-11.

“We are very excited to be bringing our events to the Rochester area,” said Dan Kaczynski of Premier Promotions. “The Roc Dome is a world-class facility now after having undergone a complete renovation recently. It is conveniently located, parking is abundant and the facility is beautiful. We have always targeted patrons from the Rochester area with our other events, and now we get the opportunity to bring this experience directly to them.”

The events promise to be shopping experiences, designed to engage patrons of every interest on multiple levels.

 AAA WCNY, AT&T & NYS Police Team Up with WNY Officials to Host Distracted Driving Awareness Day

York State Senators Chris Jacobs and Michael Ranzenhofer, AAA Western and Central New York, New York State Police and AT&T teamed up to raise awareness for AAA’s 100 Deadliest Days (the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day when teen crash fatalities historically climb 15 percent compared to the rest of the year), as well as AT&T’s “It Can Wait” public education campaign and NYS distracted driving laws.

Distracted Driving Awareness Day in Western New York was hosted June 1 at AAA WCNY headquarters, where young drivers, parents and all those who visited the Amherst AAA were educated about the dangers of distracted driving.

Elmwood Village Farmers Market Continues on June 3 with Free Yoga Class

The popular Elmwood Village Farmers Market, featuring nearly 40 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local produce and products, continues on Saturday, June 3, at the corner of Elmwood Avenue and Bidwell Parkway in Buffalo’s historic Elmwood Village. Hours at the open-air market, a program of the Elmwood Village Association, are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, rain or shine, through November. 

Beginning June 3, the market is teaming up with HEAL Bflo to offer free weekly yoga classes from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays. Participants are asked to bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water. Classes will be offered on the east side of Elmwood Avenue, directly across the street from the weekly market.

The Lafayette Square Station of the Metro Rail is around the corner on Main Street.

Beckett Card Grading Event Coming to Bases Loaded Sports Collectibles

Bases Loaded Sports Collectibles will host Charles Stabile, Northeast Regional Sales Manager from Beckett Grading Services, for a card and memorabilia grading event from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, June 9, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 10, in the store, located at 794 French Road, Cheektowaga.

Beckett Grading Services provides collectors with the most thorough, consistent and accurate grading efforts available in the industry. Your BGS-graded cards will be returned in a unique, protective cardholder. Beckett uses an easy-to-understand one- to 10-point grading scale to rate sports cards, which are graded on four key categories: Centering, corners, edges and surface. Grades from each of these key categories will be considered in determining your card's final overall grade. Beckett also grades non-sports cards, magazines, pocket schedules and gaming cards. The cost is $15 per item, with 10-day service.

South Buffalo Alive’s Annual Parade of Circles Set for June 4

The Parade of Circles, an annual event celebrating beautification projects along McKinley Parkway in South Buffalo, will take place at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 4. The event is presented by South Buffalo Alive, a nonprofit community organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in South Buffalo through ongoing preservation and beautification efforts.

Established in June 2001, the parade runs from Dorrance Circle to Heacock Park and is followed by a picnic in the park with plenty of activities for the kids. The parade will feature music and dancing as well as community groups that help make the neighborhood a special place in which to live.

Serving as grand marshals of this year’s parade will be Jim Bouris and Dave Powers, co-owners of Imperial Pizza.
