More Than 4 Tons of Drugs Collected at Drop-Offs
News

WEST SENECA, N.Y. - Car after car dumped off bags, boxes, and bottles of unused or unnecessary prescription drugs and other pills at drop-off sites across Western New York Saturday.

More than 30 locations were set up in and around Buffalo as part of the Third Annual National Takeback Initiative.  More than 8,892 pounds of pills were collected in our area.

The drug drop-off is sponsored by several local organizations, including Kids Escaping Drugs.

Old prescriptions are one of the most commonly abused drugs today. The ease of access has led to a surge in abuse of pills.

More than 100 pounds of pills were collected in the 45 minutes before the West Seneca Senior Center location officially opened for business at 10 a.m. Saturday.
