Traffic Alert: Part of I-190 Closed This Weekend | News

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Thousands of you better leave home this weekend with an alternate route or plenty of patience.

A major construction project has the 190 closed in one direction for this coming weekend.

From 7 p.m. on Friday, April 20 until 6 a.m. on the following Monday, construction crews will shut down the 190 North from Exit 14 on Vulcan Street all the way up to Sheridan Drive in Tonawanda.

"We have a good traffic diversion plan in place. I don't expect any major problems," New York State Police Sergeant John McGee said.

State police say a similar detour last year went, for the most part, smoothly.

The following weekend of April 27th through the 30th, they'll switch directions and closing the 190 southbound from Sheridan drive in Tonawanda to Ontario Street.
