Fox Rescued from Black Rock Locks
TONAWANDA, NY - If she could talk, this young red fox would most likely have quite a story to tell.
A fisherman spotted the animal swimming in the Black Rock channel in Riverside earlier this week. She was rescued with help from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Black Rock Lock and Tug crew.
The baby fox, believed to be less than a year old, was taken to the SPCA of Erie County. Except for being cold, wet and a little dehydrated, officials there say she is in good shape.
They say she'll stay there until she's stronger and then be transferred to a fox rehabilitator in Concord before eventually being released back into the wild.
