Basketball "Game Changer" is Changing Lives | News

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The program is called "Game Changers" and it's meant to give Buffalo kids at risk of being lured into a life of gang violence and drugs, a chance to learn life skills from expert coaches.

And the carrot they use to get these kids to give up their Friday nights... is basketball.

For eight weeks, over 100 kids from Buffalo's Delevan-Grider neighborhood take part in a three hour program on the Medaille College campus.

The first half of the night is devoted to learning basketball skills and the second half is about life skills.

The program is a collaboration between the Buffalo Office of the DEA, Buffalo Police, The Buffalo Mayor's Office, the Buffalo Recreation Department and Medaille College.

Plans are already in the work to continue the program next year.
