Jacobs Invites You to “Passports On The Move” Event

Erie County, NY- Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs announced that his office is hosting a special “Passports on the Move” Outreach on Wednesday, June 5th, at the Eastern Hills Mall from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Clerk’s Office will be set up in the Center Court Commons, between Bon-Ton and Macy’s.  Appointments are required and can be made by contacting the Erie County Clerk’s Office directly at 716-858-8866.

Passport Acceptance Agents from the Clerk’s Office will be available to accept and process passport applications for U.S. citizens during this special community outreach as well as provide passport information. “I encourage anyone planning their upcoming summer vacation or a college student planning their next semester abroad to come to our outreach and apply for their passport,” said County Clerk Jacobs.

Roger Woodworth Nominated by Senator Grisanti for Veterans Hall of Fame in New York State Senate

New York State Senator Mark Grisanti recently announced he nominated United States Army Captain Roger L. Woodworth as his nominee for the New York State Senate’s 2013 Veterans Hall of Fame Honoree Celebration.

CPT Woodworth was recently recognized at a ceremony and luncheon in Albany for his efforts in the military as well as his work as a veteran in Western New York.

“I am proud to nominate Roger for this honor because of the many contributions he has made and continues to make in our community,” said Senator Grisanti. “His efforts at the Veteran One-Stop Center and the Western New York Veterans Housing Coalition as well as his various interests outside of that work are to be commended, which is why I am glad to acknowledge the work of him and all veterans as part of our celebration of veterans.”

JACOBS MAKES BOATER’S SAFETY GUIDE AVAILABLE AT CLERK'S OFFICE

Erie County, NY- Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs announced that the New York State Boater’s Guide is now available through his office. The guidebook is made possible by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation. The guide provides a summary of the more important laws, registration and training requirements, as well as suggested safety information governing recreational boating within New York State.

“Just like there are ‘rules of the road’ for vehicles, there are ‘rules of the waterway’ that govern the safe maneuvering of watercrafts”, said County Clerk Jacobs. “I encourage all recreational boaters and jet skiers to know the risks, learn the rules and be prepared before taking the helm this boating season.”

Jacobs to Deliver Nearly $8 Million to Local Governments

Says Mortgage Tax Collections up 16.8% Over Same Period Last Year

Erie County, NY-Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs announced his office will soon distribute to local governments throughout the County their share of the Erie County Mortgage Tax collections based off of real estate transactions recorded in the Clerk’s Office.  The total to be distributed on May 15th is $7,896,969.86 and covers the six month period October 1, 2012-March 31, 2013.  This amount is 16.8% higher than the same period last year.

“Record low interest rates have fueled both refinancing and home purchases throughout Western New York.  This is a positive development for Erie County’s municipal governments since mortgage tax distributions are a major source of revenue for many of the County’s cities, towns and villages,” stated County Clerk Jacobs.

Jacobs to Sponsor Community Blood Drive at Erie County Auto Bureau

Erie County, NY – Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs will be hosting an open-to-the-public blood drive with Unyts, WNY’s only organ, eye, tissue and community blood center, on Saturday, May 11th from 9am-2pm at the Erie County Auto Bureau located at 2122 George Urban Blvd. in Cheektowaga.

“Giving the gift of life through a blood donation is critically important,” Jacobs said.  “By giving blood, you are helping to make sure there is blood available for your friends and neighbors in their time of need. I would also like to encourage the community to enroll on the New York State Registry as an organ and tissue donor and help the more than 117,000 currently waiting for a transplant.”
