Catholic Charities of Buffalo Appoints Three to Leadership Positions

Catholic Charities of Buffalo has appointed three new members to its leadership team. Judette Dahleiden has been named Director of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) nutrition program, Beverly Eagan has been named Corporate Compliance Officer and Joseph Farrauto has been named Director of Human Resources.
      
Dennis Walczyk, Catholic Charities chief executive officer, said, “We are pleased to promote Beverly to her new position, and welcome Judette and Joe into two critical leadership roles. I look forward to the expertise, energy and passion all three will bring to their new and increased responsibilities.”

Rachel Chrostowski Joins WNY Land Conservancy as Community Engagement Director

 

The Western New York Land Conservancy welcomed Rachel Chrostowski as the newest member of their staff on April 6, 2015. As community engagement director, Rachel will increase the public’s engagement with the Land Conservancy’s work. 

Rachel has a degree in geography and environmental studies from SUNY Geneseo; however, her education in earth science started at a much earlier age. She credits her geologist mother with her deep love of the natural environment, appreciation for open space and strong conservation values.

Appeal Week 2015 Culminates with $8.54 Million Raised for  91st Annual Catholic Charities Appeal

The Most Reverend Richard J. Malone, bishop of the Diocese of Buffalo, provided his second report on the progress of the annual Catholic Charities of Buffalo Appeal Tuesday, March 31, revealing $8,546,086.80  has been raised to date, as Catholic Charities officials marked the close of Appeal Week 2015.
    
Today’s total represents 78.4 percent of the final goal, which is trending slightly behind last year at this time when 82.3 percent of goal was reached. Funds raised for Appeal 2015 support Catholic Charities’ 70 programs and services offered across 61sites throughout the eight-county region, and the Bishop’s Fund for the Faith, which supports related ministries of the Diocese of Buffalo. The annual campaign runs through June 30 and carries a goal of $10.9 million.

Earth's Daughters at Fourth Friday Series at Dog Ears Bookstore

 

The editors of Earth's Daughters magazine (Kastle Brill, Jennifer Campbell, Joyce Kessel, Janna Willoughby-Lohr, and ryki zuckerman) will read from their work on Friday, March 27, at 7 pm in the Fourth Friday Reading Series at Dog Ears Bookstore, 688 Abbott Rd., in South Buffalo. The series is hosted by Fred Whitehead.  Admission is $4. Long time sponsor, Bella Pizza, will provide pizza and beverages will be available.

Earth's Daughters is both name of the magazine, which has been publishing for 44 years, and the name of the collective, comprised of the editors, each of whom is an accomplished poet.  Earth's Daughters magazine is the longest continuously published feminist literary arts periodical in the US.

Thanks to the efforts of Quinn Schwab and members of Boy Scout Troop #238, the Mill Road Scenic Overlook has had a cleanup. For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Schwab led the cleanup of debris that was the last remnant of a long-ago farm dump that had been hidden in a ravine on the property.
