Nichols School Junior Commits to Harvard

Nichols School junior, Sean Malone ’13 has committed to Harvard University for the fall of 2013 or 2014.

A native of West Seneca, Malone is a smart, skilled center who makes great plays and finishes equally well. On top of all that, he’s physically involved and highly competitive. Malone led the CISAA in scoring with 35 points (17 goals, 18 assists) in 15 games. He becomes the third player out of Nichols in the past two years to commit to a Division I school.

In addition to Harvard, Malone visited Cornell University, Princeton University and Michigan State. At Nichols this season, he held a 34-36-70 line in 32 games. He also played for the Buffalo Saints U18 team, where he had a 27-27-54 line. The Saints will play in the New York State Tournament March 17-18.

“Sean has worked very hard and has earned the privilege of attending a school like Harvard,” said Jamie Printz, Head Coach of Boys Prep A Hockey at Nichols. “I am extremely excited for him and his family. He is a first class person and a tremendously talented hockey player.”

Malone’s United States Hockey League rights are owned by the Lincoln Stars, who took him in last spring’s Futures Draft.
