Northtowns Pet Blog: Why Scrubbing Those Dog Bowls is a Must

Northtowns Pet Blog: Why Scrubbing Those Dog Bowls is a Must

The cleaning of dog bowls is often overlooked. Although many dogs would be happy to drink out ofthe toilet, it is up to us to provide the healthiest environment possible for our pets. Unfortunately, many people let their dog bowls become slimy and coated with yucky film before finally giving them a thorough scrub. We may do this when it seems like our pet's feeding times never mesh well with our own dish cleaning schedules. This matter of inconvenience can be resolved by having several sets of inexpensive bowls. Give the bowls a quick scrub to loosen up grime before placing the bowls in the dishwasher. Simply put the soiled set in the dishwasher with the rest of your dishes while placing the clean set out during feeding.

Three Options for Caring for Your Cat While You're Out Of Town

Cats are pretty self-sufficient creatures, but that doesn't mean you can leave your kitten alone while you go out of town. Even an overnight trip can be traumatic for a young kitten or a cat that is very closely bonded to you. You wouldn't leave a five-year-old child alone to fend for herself for days, leaving a couple of boxes of cookies out so she doesn't go hungry, so why would you leave your cat alone?

As a responsible cat owner, you have three choices for being sure your kitten stays healthy while you're away from home:

Turkeys Leave Country, Will Spend Holiday Overseas!

There are 68 more days until Thanksgiving, and you can do your worrying about that turkey during the last 41. The first 27 days, or until October 15th, you can spend being thankful that the turkey you might not get will go to our boys overseas. This about sizes up the situation. Some time ago the government slapped a two-way freeze order on the national turkey crop.  It froze the sale of the birds until it can buy up 15,000,000 to 20,000,000 pounds needed by the armed forces, and it is now freezing the birds for shipment overseas.

Turkeys remaining after Uncle Sam has his share will be allocated to civilian use.
