The Cheesy Chick a Welcome Addition to Buffalo's Food Truck Scene | Restaurants
The Cheesy Chick has been roaming the streets of Buffalo for the last four weeks but since they primarily only serve during lunch time, we haven’t had a chance to visit the truck. When I woke up on Saturday morning to see their tweet about being on Amherst St at 464 Gallery, Alli and I knew we couldn’t miss it. I won’t lie, I was nervous about the food on the truck. It’s nothing against the team working inside the truck, but it has taken every Buffalo food-truck a few weeks to get their food right and some of the early reviews of The Cheesy Chick were mixed.
I’m happy to say that the food we had last Saturday afternoon was very good, Alli and I both ordered a couple sandwiches and their soup and were pleased. We have also heard about the possibility of long waits but we hit the truck at the right time and we only waited about 5 minutes for our food. I hadn’t looked at their menu ahead of time but as soon as I saw their menu board on the truck I knew I had to order the ABC sandwich (pictured below, one of their favorites).
Their ABC is thinly sliced apple, bacon and sharp cheddar on thick sourdough bread with roasted onion mayo. The bread had just the right amount of grilled crisp, the apples were sugary sweet and the cheese was gooey. The only dilemma I had was that the bacon wasn’t crispy at all, the slices had a nice flavor but were very soggy. That was a disappointment. For about $6 I think the portion size and price are just about right, I wasn’t exactly stuffed but I was satisfied.
