Buffalo Applebee’s “Calling” For Sports Fans and Collectors

Buffalo Applebee’s “Calling” For Sports Fans and Collectors

Celebrity photos, sports items, and local memorabilia are among dozens of items that customers can bid on at the Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar in Buffalo, NY. Now through Sunday, July 29, items that currently adorn the restaurant’s walls will be up for auction as the restaurant prepares for its upcoming remodel. All proceeds will benefit the local Make-A-Wish Foundation chapter to help grant the wishes of children diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition.

“Every day, patrons come into our restaurants and admire the memorabilia that pay homage to their favorite stars and local teams,” said Stephanie Griffin, director of marketing and public relations, T.L. Cannon Companies. “This auction allows our customers to take advantage of some unique shopping, all while benefitting a deserving organization.”

Grisanti Law Signed By Cuomo Supports Craft Beer Industry

Grisanti Law Signed By Cuomo Supports Craft Beer Industry

Senator Mark Grisanti (R-60) today announced that Governor Cuomo has signed a package of laws to support the craft beer industry.  This legislation will help increase demand for locally grown farmer products, support local breweries and wineries and expand industry related economic development and tourism    The laws keeps intact a tax benefit for small beer breweries, exempts those that produce small batches of beer from paying an annual State Liquor Authority fee, and creates a “Farm Brewery License” so craft breweries can expand their operations through opening restaurants or selling beer related products.  Grisanti sponsored the original Bill S. 5829 that sought to help small craft breweries expand their operations to include shops or restaurants.

The location itself shares the same building as the Naval Museum.  Sharing this building is unique and provides a lot of cool things to look at while standing around, unfortunately that it means there isn’t a lot of waiting room and sometimes crowds of tourists (from Canada?) to navigate through.  The other major dilemma for the restaurant is parking.  We ended up parking underneath the skyway but this area could really benefit from a more structured parking situation.  On this particular Sunday it was gorgeous outside and the wait for a table was 45 minutes (the restaurant is on the smaller side), but luckily we grabbed a pair of seats at the bar that had just opened up. (Note: they serve food at the bar as well as the cocktail tables out on the patio…and they are first come, first serve…so if you don’t want to wait for a table, try to grab one.)

Founding Fathers Serves Drinks and History Lessons

Founding Fathers Serves Drinks and History Lessons

Two months into starting Buffalo Eats, I wrote a post about having lunch at Founding Fathers and vaguely mentioned how much I enjoy the bar. The post was brief and over the three years since writing that article, my feelings for this bar have grown. I now consider it one of my favorite bars in the city (on par with the Pink), it’s the bar I chose to drink at the night before my wedding and the first place I took my brother when he turned 21. When I became the mayor on foursquare last month I was genuinely excited.

The new menu options will cater to individuals who must adhere to a strict gluten-free diet due to Celiac Disease and other medical conditions.

“While our menu has always included some gluten-free breads and brick oven pizzas, we have several diners who have expressed an interest in more gluten-free options, and we are happy to accommodate their dining needs,” said Chef Andrew Murtha. “Our kitchen has equipment dedicated to our gluten-free menu options, with absolutely no cross-contamination with gluten foods.”
