Braise Food & Wine has a particular glamour with its chic, ultra-sophisticated decor combined with deliciously intelligent and artful cuisine. The eco-friendly restaurant design incorporates organic materials mixed with contemporary surfaces for a crisp, eclectic, urban sensibility. A solid walnut-topped bar is one of the focal points in the 126-seat room, which includes a 30-seat bar and comfortable lounge.

To say people were excited for the opening of NoNoo Ramen would be an understatement.  Any new restaurant on Elmwood will get some additional buzz but a restaurant offering a more traditional version of Japanese Ramen will really raise the expectations and build some hype.  NoNoo just opened their doors two days ago (in between Pasteurized Tee’s and Bistro Europa).  They still aren’t accepting credit cards, selling alcohol or offering take out (they should be sometime next week) but you can still enjoy their menu of 4 types of ramen as well as several small and large plates.  The crowd luckily doesn’t seem to be too crazy yet but if all of the tables are taken you can give the hostess your name and cell phone number and they’ll send you a text/call w

Today on Buffalo Eats I'm are proud to debut the first episode of our podcast, Eat It Up!  This is something I’ve wanted to do for years and I think our first episode came out really well.  Our producer Tom put a lot of work into the quality of the audio to make sure that we sounded as professional as possible.  We also couldn’t have asked for a better first guest; Christa Glennie Seychew is not only one of the most important people in Buffalo’s restaurant/food scene but she’s also a great person to talk to about food and our conversation could have went on for well over an hour.  Christa is the founder of Feed Your Soul which is behind the very popular Nickel City Chef and is currently the Food Editor at the Buffalo Spree.

It's the birthplace of the chicken wing and is still one of the best places to eat the game-day staple anywhere in the country, but that doesn't mean that the Anchor Bar should be overlooked as a great wing-eating destination.

Back in July of 2009, Alli and myself actually ordered a pizza in this exact location.  However, at the time it was Campieri’s and the menu was mainly focused on artisanal or “fancy” pizzas.  We enjoyed the meal but not the service and unfortunately never made a return visit before the ultimately closed their doors; then in the fall/winter of 2010 The Eights came to be.

The location itself hasn’t changed too much, at least from what I can remember, and I noticed a lot of art work on the walls (all of which is for sale).  I forgot how nice this building was, with their exposed brick and a nice long wooden bar, right now I am wondering why I don’t walk down there for a beer/snack more often.
