Paul Cumbo, an English teacher at Canisius High School, has published his first novel, “Boarding Pass.” Dog Ears Bookstore, located at 688 Abbott Road in South Buffalo, will host a reading and book signing with Cumbo at 6 p.m. Friday, May 31.

Love Your Mom and Pop Marketplace at Tri-main Center

Buffalo First!'s is hosting its annual Love Your Mom and Pop campaign vendor marketplace on Saturday, May 18th, 10am-4pm at Tri-Main Center. The Tri-main Building is a landmark Buffalo mixed-use building, home to over 70 locally owned businesses and organizations

The event will feature local food and drink, an artisan and entrepreneur vendor market with 20 vendors perfect for Father’s Day shopping, presentation of our social media contest winners, live local music, local food and drink, kids crafts, and an opportunity for our members and business owners to network and build relationships. The event is free and open to the public.

Permanent Food Vendors to Replace Winter Market at Horsefeathers

 

This is your last opportunity to visit the popular Winter Market at Horsefeathers, located at 346 Connecticut St. on Buffalo’s West Side, before it gives way to several permanent food vendors that will continue to serve the neighborhood. 

Permanent vendors currently in place include Martin Cooks, The Pasta Peddler and Blackbird Sweets. The first floor and basement will eventually host several additional food-related businesses and will also offer a community kitchen. The upper floors of the 115-year-old building will feature brand new apartments.

Two Shows of SPANK! The Fifty Shades Parody

University at Buffalo's Center for the Arts will be hosting two performances of SPANK! The Fifty Shades Parody at the Mainstage Theater. On Apr. 29 and Apr. 30, grab your best girlfriends and be prepared to get spanked. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. but arrive at 6:00 p.m. to enjoy a signature drink by Falletta's Restaurant at the cash bar, or shop around at area businesses in the Atrium Area.

Winter Market at Horsefeathers Begins Transition to Permanent Vendors

Only two weeks remain to visit the popular Winter Market at Horsefeathers, located at 346 Connecticut St. on Buffalo’s West Side, before it gives way to a new season of the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market in the Elmwood Village. The transition of the Winter Market also continues, as three permanent businesses celebrated a grand opening celebration on Sunday, April 21.

Officially opening their doors to the public on Sunday were Martin Cooks, The Pasta Peddler and Blackbird Sweets. Legislator Dixon, Urban Valet announce  free prom dresses available

 

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon and Urban Valet Dry Cleaners announce that the 4th annual Prom Dress Drive Shopping Days will be held Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14 at Performing Arts Dance Academy, located at 206 Lake St., Hamburg.

 

Girls are invited to come and shop for a free dress from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. A large selection of colors, sizes and styles will be displayed for girls to look through. Dressing rooms will be provided to allow shoppers to try on three (3) dresses at a time.

 

“The shopping days are a lot of fun and help families handle the cost associated with preparing for the prom or other formal event. This year we have a large collection, featuring some truly amazing gowns,” said Legislator Dixon. “All local girls are invited to come and shop through the selection during one of the two shopping days.”
